About the Artist Patty Lynes
A painter and landscape architect, I have traveled extensively, pursuing studio arts wherever I have lived including University of Guelph, Emily Carr University of Art + Design, OCAD University and London Central Polytechnic, U.K. Natural landscapes inspire much of my works which have been included in several exhibitions including The Brackendale Art Gallery, Squamish, Vancouver Community Arts Council Gallery, Vancouver, The Silk Purse, West Vancouver and the Artist Project, Toronto (2019-2020).
My paintings strive to encompass in gesture the natural world especially through the changing light of day. Paintings are windows that open to life and memory.
An avid canoeist, I find inspiration within the forests and lakes of southern Ontario. I strive to encompass in gesture the natural world especially through the changing light of day. In my Hamilton studio I reference my ink and watercolor sketches created on my tripping adventures, along with B&W photo montages for value study. I use a loose and gestural brush stroke. Resilience in nature is the theme in much of my work.
