Mermaid Play was a delight to paint. Flowing fluid acrylic paint gives this painting a very water-like quality. The subtle outlines give the piece a batik look, with the use of a resist for the line work. There are two mermaids in this painting engaged in a playful dance among the waves. The ‘turtle’ shell design is a highly textured area that gives a three dimensional quality.
