White ash bowl with aniline dyes, TP4
This bowl was hand turned by me from a white ash tree killed by the emerald ash borer on my property in Algoma District, northern Ontario. The bowl measures 16 inches across and is 4 inches high. The bowl was coloured using aniline dyes on the exterior. The interior of the bowl was treated with a food safe finish. It should be hand washed and treated periodically with a food safe finish.

I focus my woodturning to highlight the natural beauty of native and exotic woods. My turned objects are primarily one of a kind creations. Woods chosen are native or exotic woods with preference given to burled material, unique grain patterns and the natural designs caused by wood decay fungi, referred to as spalting. More recently, I have increased my use of epoxy resins, colour dyes, and have included charcuterie boards, small tables, benches and other furniture to my repertoire. I am a licensee of the Ontario Wood program and am largely self-taught but have attended various woodturning seminars in Canada and the U.S. My photography is focused on wildlife, our natural environment and abandoned places.
