Mushrooms on Poplar
Available as a print or Pen & Ink (Original – 9” x 12” )
A wind fallen popular tree that was cut down to clear the trail at our cottage in Muskoka has inspired me to do this sketch. Its amazing how mushrooms can always find a place to grow. The mushroom has the contour line technique to show shape and shadows.
The end cuts on the tree also have the same technique to show the growth rings. Contour and wavy lines were also used to show the shape of the trunk as well as light to dark concentrations of contour and wavy lines to show recesses and shadows.
This is a great study of the use of contour and wavy lines.
