I was inspired to create this piece because of the numerous layers of shale on the shoreline of Georgian Bay while hiking on the Bruce Trail in July. Behind the tree line is Owen Sound Harbour and you can take the ferry over to the island.
Coloured pencils were used for the sky, water, trees, boulders, and shale layers. Pen & Ink work was used for the deep shadows in the trees, boulders and water reflections. Small dashes were used to show water movement and waves coming ashore off the bay.
