Artist Janet Evans has been creating glass art in Ottawa for the past 10 years. She is currently torching out of the Loretta Studio and Gallery and is a member of the Ottawa Glassblowing Cooperative.
From blown glass to beads, her work is both whimsical and sophisticated. “I want my pieces to make you smile…it’s all about the fun!” Her hot shop pieces include paperweights and vases. She has also worked with fused glass, creating plates, bowls and jewelry. Torch work is now her primary focus, creating both wearable glass art as well as exploring larger sculptural pieces.
"Working with glass is, to me, like capturing light in solid form. While hot glass is a very challenging medium, playing with its luminous quality and luscious colours has become my passion."
