
The tropical islands of the Turks and Caicos have many birds and insects and tiny lizards and geckos, which are prime game for the Great Egret, and a delight to watch as the Egret patiently stalks through the grasses. The Great Egret was nearly whipped out in the United States in the 1800’s because of their plume for fashion. However, conservationists were able to stop the slaughter, which allowed the Egret to bounce back.
